              MY VACATIONS

VACATION word brings happiness ,relaxation and enjoyment feeling in every individual mind whether he is a student, employer ,or any aged person after listening .Vacations are the days of recreation and relaxation since these days come after lot of hardwork.Every  person in this world wishes to spend most of his time in playing ,eating ,drinking, and visiting the most memorable and exotic places of the world with his family and friends .This dream comes true in the summer vacations.vacations  has been the most exciting part of our life since childhood. It brought all the excitement and joy out which was buried for months under the burden of books and lot of studies. As a kid ,nothing can substitute the happiness that vacations brought .It is the time when no one even the parents cannot stop you to play games outside or inside the house throughout the day .It is the time when no one force you to stay away from direct sunlight during playing games. It the time when you don’t need to get up early in the morning and get down early in the night. It is the only time when you are free from every day to day life problems and  don’t need to worry about the studies and the school homework given by the teachers or faculties. We can also declare the vacations in simple way as the most awaited season of the year for every individual.
My vacations started with quite enjoyment and fun.I didn’t do much in my vacations as I  was busy in my project work as well as in marriage arrangement or preparation of my elder brother.during the vacations ,the only place I visited was famous swaminarayan akshardham temple ,situated near the bank of Yamuna river adjacent to the 2010 commonwealth games village also known as the “khel gao”in east delhi on that day ,due to Sunday as well as ongoing summer vacations the crowd was in very large amount as compared to the normal days.As my experience of visiting the temple was nice .but the only thing I liked most there was the experience of musical fountain ,started with the evening “AARTI” ,that  relaxed my mind and removed the entire tiredness of whole day journey. The attractive feature of the temple is that even the lower caste people partake the Prasad offered to the gods with the highest caste people.I didn’t do any type of enjoyment on next 7 days because I was busy in my college project work.but after 7 days ,along with college friends,I visited saket to watch a  English movie name”fast and furious 6”.its been a nice movie for me with lots of actions and comedy yet.on that day I enjoyed a lot with my friends, after watching the movie we went to dominos and took some refreshment over there. After that we also visited the famous mall of saket “select city walk”.After that day ,I totally got busy in the preparation of my elder brother marriage.I was waiting for the pleasant event for quite some time. Now the time has come to for the ultimate enjoyment to begin.the first day of the whole ceremony began with a ring ceremony.Apart from the ring ceremony there was Dj playing the latest songs which made my legs to groove on its tune.I had such a moment after quite some time.Fun was at its height. All of the guests were dancing and enjoying so much.It was quite an experience to see many people laughing and and enjoying at the same time. After the dancings and all I had my lunch with bride’s family. The expectations of the fun began to rise more as the day progressed. The marriage ceremony was going to be more fun.The day of the marriage arrived and it lived upon it’s expectations. The ultimate fun was when “BARAATI”(we) began our journey from the dharamsala to the bride’s  house. All danced like a maniac. Now fireworks started and it was quite a scenery to watch.Apart from  the fun and enjoyment outside the ceremony inside was quite peaceful and it ended in the similar manner. In this way my vacations ended in adventure full manner. Now the day had come to shoulder my responsibilities once again.College has begun..!!

                                              My Vacations
Finally exams are over of 2nd sem..now summer vacation is just about to start. I have planned so much for how to spent my vacations. Summer vacation is the best part of the year. A student can have a couple of months entirely to himself. I am not bothered about books and examinations. I can do whatever i like. I planned to go where I want to and want to make my physice and I cm visit my relations and the most excitement one I prepared myself to go to the hills.
Our college closed on 5th May and I decided to pass my summer vacation at Shimla. As my parents were busy and could not accompany me, I decided to go with my friends. Big preparations were to be made before leaving Delhi. But it was worthwhile to escape the blazing heat of Delhi.
I, along with three of my friends and their families, took the Kalka Mail for Simla. The train went very slowly and we enjoyed a lot in train...
We saw so much things from the window of train like mountains, ranges , valleies and specially the waterfalls..
It went so slow that one could get down or get in anywhere he liked.
The railway track was zigzag. We could always see the track we had covered and the track that was before us. We went up and up in a whirl. The train reached Simla in the evening. We went to our place. Day by day, we enjoyed the summer vacation It was a great picnic for two weeks. It was really an enjoyable opportunity.
We did not notice the quick passing of time. We had no worry, no college work, no fear of being in time for college and no fear of minor tests. We used to climb hills, go down in valleys, meet villagers and saw so many beautiful sights.
The tall trees on the hills and the whirring sound which the quickly passing air created made us love nature and forget all about the plains.
It was with a heavy heart that we had to leave Simla at the end of our journey. Now we made our heards to delhi. We took bus and finally reached new delhi bus terminal.

The next month just sort of passed by with most of the time spent at home with family and friends. I have to admit I was starting to feel a bit bored as there was nothing much to do at home as well.

And now rest of the days of my vacation I spent days to build my health and increase my stamina for my favourite sport football. I spent most of the time with my friends and went for the movies and visited so many malls with them. I also gave time to report on term paper. I visited so many automobiles workshop bacause of my term paper and I had done my work in these vacations.. This works out great because we are all old enough to go out and do our own thing without getting the parents too much involved. Since most of the fun things to do and we done it and it turns in to a great vacation for all of us and my b'day also came in this vacation I enjoyed a lot with my friends and my family and this is the one of the happiest vacation of my life.

MY VACATION
The year I have spent here was with many troughs and crests. This was the first time I stayed away from my family. Spending a year in Amity was fantastic. I had some good, some bad, some cheerful, some sorrowful experiences.  But when the day came to return to our houses for  a two month vacation , it brought heavy hearts with it. Me and my friends were excited to go home but at the same time overcoming  the pain of  being separated from each other. Excitement and anxiety for going home was at it’s highest. A three hour journey from IGI Delhi to Varanasi seemed like a three day boring travel to some unwanted destination.
As I stepped in my house, it was the best moment of my life I have ever experienced. I was returning to my family after a six months lag. Hugging my Grandma and little cousins with all the love and affection I ever had for them made my eyes drown in water. But these tears were the signs for my happiest upcoming days I would spend with them. My holidays were inaugurated with a big family bash . I was trying to make each and every moment special so that it there may be many to remember after the holidays are over. The graph of excitement was going higher and higher as the day was coming nearer when my youngest Uncle was ready to tie his knots with her life partner and wed her. Preparations for marriage were started. A fortnight was there for the marriage. There was a lots of work as the Indian culture has a huge lot of ceremonies to be completed in a singe wedding. The best part for preparations was shopping clothes and accessories for me, my cousins and my uncles. I did it with all my dedication.  I am the elder son in my generation so I got many chances to participate in rituals and ceremonies. I was annoyed sometimes of the guests saying it was my turn after my Uncle’s. All the plans were going right as we decided. Me and my cousins had a great street dance in the wedding. We danced so much on the band that we were not able to eat our food on our own. Even one of my cousin got blisters in his legs dancing that night. When we returned home, each of us had an eighteen hour long sleep. The wedding was over and a new day was added to our calendar to celebrate every year.
Just three days after the wedding I left for Bodh Gaya as it was Buddha Purnima, birthday of lord Buddha. It was a five hour drive from Varanasi. Me and my parents with my eldest uncle and cousin stayed there for two days. We saw many historical things there like six hundred years old Buddha temple, modern international monastries and temples like the Thai temple, Burman temple, Chinese and Sri Lankan monasteries. There was a huge crowd from all over the word there because lord Buddha got his enlightment there under the Bodhi tree which was centuries old Banyan tree. I had a good spiritual and historical experience there . I got to see a news on TV that there were terrorist blasts there. Hearing the news that there were terror blasts at this holy place was sad. The news brought a thought in my mind that how could someone even think of such unsocial elements to such a holy place in this kind of spiritual place.
A month of holidays comes to an end after this trip. After that I left Gujarat where my father had his job and I did my schooling. Me and my parents with my younger brother left for a sixteen hundred kilometer journey with our car without an chauffer which was much thrilling. Through the whole journey I wished to reach home as early as possible. Watching the accidented cars and trucks laid bye the way was creating heavy breaths in each of us. However we managed to reach home in two days with a night halt.
I met my school friends there, went for day outs, parties, beaches with them and enjoyed a lot with them. Every evening we used to gather at some place and discuss various moments of our school life. Even we forgot time when we started pulling leg of one of us. Remembering the school teachers and the coaching  teachers and imitating them brought huge smiles to each one of ours faces. I even learnt driving in these days. But this was not everything in life. I got bored with this routine of sleeping fourteen hours daily and wasting the rest of time in making fun. I wanted the college to start as soon as possible. This even made me tensed that I was wasting my time. But finally the day came  when I had to leave again for college. Everyone was once again emotional. I came back, met my friends and everything was left behind my studies. This is how my first college vacations came to an end.

My Vacations
The exams were finally over and it was time to move back to the place called home sweet home. The excitement to be back at home had already taken over the mind and it was very difficult to concentrate on the exams especially the last ones. Moreover it already had been over two months since I was last at home with friends and family .
Finally the day came and the moment I completed writing my last exam I rushed back to my room and started to pack my things for I had to leave that very night . One of my friend was also accompanying me to my hometown Shimla. It was a kind of holiday trip for him as he had never visited before.

So it was time to say goodbye to the hustle-bustle and rush of the big metro city and finally some leisure and peace. We reached home and it was just like being back in heaven after bearing the sweltering weather of Delhi for two long months . The breeze was just awesome and I cannot describe the feeling. But the  most exiting part was seeing my parents after such a long time and just one hug was enough to relieve me from everything.
Then the time came to see my old friends from school and locality. It was so good to see them and we had a great time. They had also came back from college for the long vacations . We had already planned many things on our phone  conversations during college and so it was time to move out and execute whatever could be possible . The first thing planned was an excursion higher up in the mountains with my friend. I had promised him that this would be a lifetime experience for him . Within the next two days, we were out in the wild and did a trekking trip to a place further away from Shimla and wow what a breathtaking experience it was ! Even me who has spent all my life in the mountains was so mesmerized by the view we got from up there. My friend was  just speechless as for him it was the first time he was at such a place as he is a Delhi based guy.  It was surely a memory to cherish.
Then we were back in Shimla and after a couple of days of local sightseeing and of course a lot of fun, it was time for my friend to end his week long trip to Shimla and I bid farewell to him . Now we would meet only when the college reopens two months later.
I am sure he had a great time and everything went beyond his expectations.

The next month just sort of passed by with most of the time spent at home with family and friends. I have to admit I was starting to feel a bit bored as there was nothing much to do at home as well.

Now only a couple of weeks were left fore the college to reopen andI decided to visit my native place where I hadn’t gone for a very long time maybe an year or two. So it was very nice to be there with all my relatives and especially visiting my grandmother after soo long. She was still as cute and lovely as she always had been and I could see the love in her eyes for her grandson.
I spent a week there and came back to my home for the last week.

I knew that it was the time to leave again but was also exited to see my college and friends again.
The day to return was finally here and with a heavy heart I left for Delhi once again. Two months of holidays and happiness had just flew by..!!

MANPREET SINGH A2325312013

                                                              MY    VACATIONS

Summer vacations are always considered to be the reason of joy and happiness for children and teenagers and they eagerly waits for these vacations from the starting of spring in the late of march.summers are generally considered to be the season which is not much pleasant and desirable for the people but the most attractive and charming factor of this season is the long summer vacations which are mouth watering for the children.summer vacations are considered to be pleasant and mentally relaxed because the students do get free from their exam so don’t have a lot of obligations in the summers other than the summer task assigned to them.My summer vacations were very much pleasing because in these holidays I was able to do all that fun ehich I was unable to do due to the various obligations in the normal routine.
This time I got promoted to 2nd year from first year. After the hard labor for the examinations, I wanted some rest and also some refreshment. Hence I put aside my books for a few weeks. Next day morning I went out to play with my friends.
My summer vacations were usually comprised of journeys to different cities of  the country, mainly the northern part of the state because generally the summers are very hot in south and west so we prefer to move to the colder places so that we can enjoy the summers in good temperature and climate.Another reason of opting for the northern areas because these places get more and more beautiful and worth watching in summers because the snow capped mountains starts to melt and the freezing snow changes itself in to the flowing streams and rivers which gives the scenic beauty an additional charm and attractiveness. We usually plan to go for hiking  and camping  because climate suits for adventure. In winters the extremely freezing temp doesn’t allow the plans of camping to be executed while onn other hand the hiking becomes more n more difficult n dangerous when the mountains n cliffs  are being wrapped up in snow.So we utilizes the summer vacations for such thrillers so that it should not be that much torturing as well as risking while we could also attain the maximum fun.
We went to manali. We also went to the dangerous n beautiful rohtang pass. The scenery and views of all these places was beautiful and breathtaking. The location was amazing and I am feeling very calm and peace. Then we went back to home after a long journey of full on masti and fun .At home as usual the regular routine started and life become boring and non realistic.
Me and my friends started playing cricket and football in the remaing holidays of my college life.Every morning we went to the park to see the chirpings and singing of birds that makes me so calm and relax. What I saw is that small children were playing in the park with their parents and friends which was such a cute and adorable moment of my life.At the evening I went to gym as usual to maintain my body and physique to look better day by day.and after my fun was cam to an end and vacations were over..
Of all the vacations in my life, this was my best summer vacation ever, mainly because my cousins were also there. We had collected memories for a lifetime. I told my parents that we will plan similar holidays for every summer vacation, in the coming years.
The vacation was over and I was back to college but my mind was still remembering the sweet memories of the summer vacation. I will await the next summer holidays and would love to go on this type of vacation again and again. But unfortunately this was my last summer vacations.

After the exams were over, I planned an amazing trip with my family from 17 may to 7 July .We decided to go pune as my brother was having his last year final exams in chemical engineering . After going to pune we were going to Mumbai and then after spending a week there we would be returning back to pune .But before going to pune I went to Hauz Khas Village for celebrating my friend’s birthday.  There first we went to Hauz Khas Fort , after spending some amazing time while getting clicked our pics and exploring the fort by our self and then siting and playing some guitar and singing in open .We created some great songs and played music with some foreigners too .After enjoying inside the fort we went to a restaurant for celebrations . There too we enjoyed and get ourselves clicked in some memorable pics for remembering the beautiful place and the fun we had. After then I went to pune via Duranto Train from nizamudin station .it took 22 hrs. to reach pune to my brother. After reaching there, we went to home and then we freshen up and took some rest to remove our tiredness. After spending some time at home we together went to famous Marathi restaurant for the lunch .There we had ‘Thal Peet” famous Marathi dish. The very first day we rested and for three days we didn’t went anywhere as my brother was going to have his final exams, so instead my mother decided to stay at home and let him concentrate on his own and meanwhile I used to go to market and in the evening I used to stroll the streets and explore the new place by myself. In the morning I use to wake around 11 or 10 and then would go for a walk as the society was quite in a good location. As the whole day was spent like this, just roaming here and there. But at night I used to practice my guitar lessons and used to write few songs and some poems. After one week we decided to go to Mumbai to my Maussi’s house. We went through bus via Mumbai-Pune express highway. After reaching there we went on a city tour in a bus named ‘Mumbai Darshan’. First we went to famous temple of Lord Ganesh-Sri Siddhi Vinayak and then after spending an hour there we went to Bandra and we saw Famous celebrities’ houses and then we went to juhu beach. It was almost night when we reach the beach, there we sat together and had famous chats and played games beside the beach and we also get our self-clicked.  The next day I went for swimming with my cousin and then we went for playing squash and then reaching home we played on ps3 for the whole day. The next day we together went for watching fast and the Furious Six at the theatre and next day to that we again went for watching ye jawani dewani. After 4 day stay I went to my Bhabhi’s house and after reaching there at night I rested and the very next day we all together planned to go to Nasik via car and as we proceeded the weather started to be pleasant as it started raining heavily. After reaching the place we went to Shiva temple and had a long duration puja and then we returned tired and exhausted in the evening and rested the whole day. As the weather changed so the next day I went to a lake with my cousin and we clicked some pics and we sat there for some time as it was calm and soothing there we also chatted for some time then we went on a long ride in rain which was for me the amazing experience. After 2 days we again went back to pune as my brother’s exams were over and by the time my dad also came there. As it was my brother’s last year in pune so at that night we arranged a small party with his friends and their family. We had dinner and then a small toast to their awesome life in pune and then as Bollywood style all were emotional as they all were going to apart from each other but after that we went back and after few days we returned Delhi with all my brother’s stuff. After reaching back I felt awesome as the trip for me was quite boring because what all I thought didn’t happen that way. But after returning I arranged a party with my friends for clearing 1st year of college with good pointer. We all went to a nice place and shared our whole year experiences and enjoyed and den raised a toast to our achievement. Then before the college started all the days were spent in my guitar practice and playing and practicing with my football club. But on whole my vacations was just okay okay from the past ones, but still I enjoyed and hope in future too.

My Vacations
Vacations have been children's most exciting time since human kind came into existence. As a child we were so eager for this moment to arrive that we would stop everything else and start counting down the days left for the vacations to start.Once the vacations started we would forget our responsibilities and enjoy ourselves to the core.As a kid we would visit our grandparents house for the vacations and were treated as a guest. As we grew older the meaning of vacation remained the same but we would consider going abroad as a vacation.During childhood vacation would mean free from daily responsibility of getting up early in the morning and the load of pressure from the books was not to be worried about.Vacations for a kid was the outdoor games time and time to continue playing in the ground till it bacame to dark to play.
My vacations were full of excitement and adventure.I was eager for it to arrive since every year I would go to a hill station with my extended family and have time to bond with them. I had gone to Kasauli for two weeks with my family during my vacations, which is roughly about 70kms from Shimla. We stayed in my maternal grandparents place and had a blast of a time.Every day in the morning  my cousins and me would set out for a trek till the top of any mountain that we would encounter on our way. We would return back home and play a few hands of bridge before lunch was served. We would continue playing bridge till the evening then would go to the Kasauli Club.In the club we would play a few games of billiards and then a round of tambola.
Then we enjoyed the weather outside and were entertained by some bands playing in the club. After that we would return to the house and feasted on dinner. Some of the days we would go for a picnic along the hillside and enjoy the view of the mountain side.On the last days of our visit to the mountains the club was begining to become an energetic place since the club was celebrating its 50 years. So we wanted to stay a couple of more days ,but unfortunately we had to come back to Delhi, due to my sister's work. Those two weeks in the hills could'nt have gone better. After arriving at Delhi I started my daily routine of swimming in the morning and playing a round of golf with my cousins in the evening.I even met with my old school friends and went to Jaipur for a few days just to hang out with them.
I would hang out with my friends in the morning and play tennis  with my cousins in the evening. For a week I even worked with my father in his office and experienced the work atmosphere. Now it was time to get back to the hardwork of life and responsibility was a word which was long forgotten and had to be reborn again. At the end of the vacations I spent time with my grand parents and could not have asked for a better vacation.

MY VACATIONS

The summer holidays are the days of recreation and rest since these days come after hard work. As the holidays began, I was enthused to plan for the period. I was only thinking how to spend the vacation pleasantly, in visiting places, in reading of literature. I sought permission from my parents to pay a visit to Puri, a place that has fame all over the world. I had a desire to visit an ancient temple. I had heard of the attractive features of Puri with all its pictures and beauty from one of my friends. Its climatic condition on account of its location close to the seaside further attracted my mind to pay a visit in summer.
After taking my last exam I was extremely happy as I would be going home after a long time of this hectic life. I had to wait for another 2 days to feel the homely warmth as my tickets were not booked on the same date. Until then I met my friends bade them good bye and wished them a happy and successful journey. I enjoyed the last day of first year of my under graduate program with my friends.
The day came when I boarded my train to my city Kolkata. After few minutes the train finally departed for its destination. As I was all alone I felt a huge amount of boredom after having my dinner and texting my friends with my mobile phone I decided to sleep so that I could breathe in the very first fresh air of my town as soon as possible.  After reaching the station I stepped to the platform and felt a great pleasure in seeing my very own people. My father had come to receive me and we both went home. I touched my mother’s feet and hugged her. I was very happy to see my family members. I got tired so I relaxed the whole day. The next few days I met all my close friends and family members. I was very happy to meet all of them.
My journey to Puri began with Talcher Puri train. The journey was interesting. I reached Bhubaneswar first and there I visited Lingaraj temple, the caves of Khandagiri and Udayagiri to know the historical importance of the places. Next day I went to Puri from Bhubaneswar by bus. The temple of Lord Jagannath is sacred for the Hindus. The temple has a spacious yard surrounding it.
The attractive feature of the temple is that even the lowest caste people can take the Prasad offered to the gods with the highest caste people. The people of the highest caste do not reject to this tradition.
The crowd the place draws during summer is large. I offered my bhoga to the Lords. In the evening I spent the time on the sea beach enjoyed the cool breeze of the summer nights. The heat of summer was not felt there.
From Puri I went to Berhampur by bus. There I lived in one of my friend's house. I visited the movie, held talks with other friends. When I went Tara Tarini temple at Berhampur with my friends we had to climb hills. The passing of the evenings on the sea beach was indeed joyous. On my way back to home I did not miss the opportunity of visiting the zoo at Nandankanan. It is historic zoo. One of its kind.
As the college was to be opened on 8th July, I had to put an end to my pleasure trip there. I had no much money make further journey. I had got the pleasure of sightseeing. I engaged myself in the revision of my lessons of the previous year. I paid undivided attention to studies in order to make up for the time lost. Since I spent the vacation in moving new places I began my lessons with a refreshed mind and a cheerful heart. I felt as if my journey to those Places increased my capacity for work.
The days passed at its pace. The time was near to go back to college again. I have gathered all the memories of my first vacations of the college life. It was really an amazing experience. Finally the day came and I boarded my train back to Delhi where I study engineering.  I loved it from the bottom of my heart and I wished to visit Puri again the very next holidays.

                               MY VACATIONS
As summer started i got really excited by thinking about the plans which i had for the vacations. These vacations came at the right time for us students to get relaxed from such a tight and hectic daily schedule. After Vacations started i took the permission from my parents and went to jammu with my uncle and aunt in a very tiring and lengthy yet enjoyable roadtrip. Its climatic condition on account of its location close to the Himalayas further attracted my mind to pay a visit in summer. i enjoyed throughout the roadtrip with my cousins who were as excited about the trip as i was. Once we reached there we all were very tired and wanted to relax so we took a room at a hotel and got off to bed. Next morning we all woke up early and got ready for our departure to the religious place Vaishno Devi Shrine. when we reached there it was a warm weather which was opposite from what we had expected. We started our journey to reach at the top where main temple is situated. Along the way we stopped at various stalls and dhabas which offer delicious food. First we reached Banganga which is the river flowing at the start of journey. Along the way there came many small temples. My uncle and aunt took horses to reach up top as they were unable to walk a hefty 13 km upclimbing journey. We all reached up top at 3 in the noon and after praying there we went up further where bhairo mandir is situated. The crowd the place draws during summer is large. We offered our bhoga to the Lords. After that we started descending downward and by the 9 pm at night we were at our hotel. We were all very happy and went to sleep as we all were tired. Next morning we started our journey to the local temples. We went to shiv khodi which is very sacred and religious place. It was such a pleasent experience. One can find a peace of mind and the calmness of this place is very commendable. Afterwards we started exploring local markets and famous places. After a long and very enjoyable journey of 1 week we all got back to our home. This journey felt like we were living our dream.
After coming back home my usual daily routine again started. My day usually started with waking up late in the morning. After taking bath and doing breakfast i would sit infront of computer to watch movies and play games which was my favourite passtime. At evening i used to go for playing football. Football is my favourite sport and i used to watch matches of english premier league. After about two hours of playing i usually went for a cold shower which relieved me of the pain caused by running continously for two hours. After having dinner at the night i used to watch television with my family. Before going to bed i used to listen to my favourite music for about an hour which was my daily stressbuster.
I often went to malls and multiplexes to do shopping. Sometimes i would call my friends and plan a movie show to go and watch together. After our results got declared on 25 may in which i scored good marks i planned a visit to worlds of wonder which is an amusement park located near GIP mall. We all woke up early in the morning and went to WOW. After taking our tickets we all ran like mads towards the rides. First we took a ride called Disco which is a disk that operates on a U shaped track going up and down and rotating on its axis. After that we went to several other rides namely downloader which is a disk going up and coming down rapidly, next we went to rock and roll,360, bunjee jumping etc. After all these amusing rides at the end of the day our joy seemed to be overflowing when we saw that rain dance had started. We all started dancing like mad people seeming overly joyed. We took our group pics which is a thing that will help us remember how overly thrilled we were whenever we will look at them. After that we all went to GIP mall to have some dinner in the food court and after that we all went to our homes equally happy and joyed.
I also went to my mama's home to spend some time with my cousins all of which were very excited by thinking about the fun we were going to have in the remaining holidays. We all used to watch tv till late night with having delicious maggi in our hands. After staying two weeks there my vacations were nearing to end. As i said them goodbye i was taking away with me a very healthy and happy feelings and experience.

As the college was going to be opened on 8th july, I had to put an end to my pleasure trip there. I had got the pleasure of sightseeing. Since I spent the vacation in moving new places I began my lessons with a refreshed mind and a cheerful heart. I felt as if my journey to those Places increased my capacity for work.

MY VACATIONS
Summers. The hottest days of the year, yet the best ones. Not because its hot, but because its holiday time for all. To be honest, for me the real didnt begin as long as I was in India. The real thing was when I went to Jeddah ( Saudi Arabia ) to meet my parents and friends. Well, I was brought up there and my complete schooling was done there so its quite close to my heart. Trip to Jeddah this time was long, much longer than the one during the winter vacations. I'd say the best part about my vacations this time would be meeting my parents after such a long time. And of course meeting friends who've taken admissions in different colleges after a long time gave an awesome feeling. Most of the time we'd go to a place called 'GameNet' a famous place in Jeddah for online LAN gaming. It was fun because it included the involvement of many people and everyoneloves playing with their friends. Other than that, I spent most of my time beside the Billiards table. Yes, billiards is something I became good at thanks to this trip. Almost every other day we'd go for a frame of billiards, as ususal the rule was simple 'Losers to pay'.
One more thing that made my vacations so good was that I finally got my driver's license. Well, there's a rule in KSA, that its a must for every non saudi to attend driving classes for a week at least no matter gow good you're at driving. So those driving classes were a great experience for me, mainly because I got to meet new people, some of which had a great sense of humour. The worst part of the driving classes were the timings, it was a 6 hour class everyday, six hours of torcher I should say. The first three hours, we used to drive but the main problem came in the next three hours. The Traffic classes. Now I'm not great at arabic, and the teacher used to teach us all those rules and regulations in araboic which went completely over my head. I used to sit in the corner and play a game called 'Temple Run' on my phone. The lectures were so boring that I actually broke my own highscore three times. Haha. So yeah, after all that I finally did get my license and got to drive my dad's car a lot. At first it was fun but then it was no less than a burden, bringing the groceries and all that.
Outings with friends was always awesome, no doubt. Getting up early mornign, playing basketball beside the beach, what can be better than that? Then having breakfast together. It was all awesome back then. One more thing I did for the first time in my life during these vacations was bowling, yes I did it for the first time last month and now I finally know what I'm "not that good at".
After all that, I won't say these were the best vacatiuons of all time, but they were special for me mainly 'cause I met my parents after a long time, and I think thats what matters the most to me. Over all, I guess that was pretty much everything I did in these vacations. Let's just hope we get more holidays, which is close to impossible in a college like AMITY, after all Praveen sir did tell us these were the last of our holidays, haha.
Hope for the best, Expect the worst!

MY VACATIONS
“But what are you going to do?” “I don’t know, let it be as random as it can be” I definitely could have given my friend a better response and a safer one at that, but come vacations and all I want to do is switch-off and relax. ‘These ones were not going to be different’ I thought. Pretty much resonating with my thoughts the summer vacations, which started soon after our end terms got over, were my time to lay back and unwind.
In a week’s time, I had my maternal uncle’s marriage coming up, so I had to gear up to help him getting organized for his marriage. We went to Chandni-Chowk in old Delhi to assemble all the practical details required for the wedding. Though shopping is something I least prefer to do on holidays as these but the time required me to be a man and help him organize for his big day.
It was not the first time that I was visiting Chandni-Chowk. I have earlier visited the place quite a few times, but all those times I was here with my mother. The simple difference on coming with my mother is that until she finds things that suit her taste she leaves no stone unturned to bring the poor shopkeepers on their knees. All this makes me pity the shopkeeper rather than enjoying the sheer shopping pleasure. However, things are different with my uncle. He is a fun person to be with; you know the ‘full-of-life’ types.
We visited some showrooms for bridal wear, and finalled a striking cream and red coloured sherwani adorned with beautiful handmade work. We also had to shop for other fabrics for gifting purposes, so the shopping went on for a while. Chandni-Chowk has some different aura to it. The narrow lanes, the often-bearable commotion, the countless variety of stuff ranging from anything to everything-all this give it a different sensation of its own.
Well I always feel that though Delhi might have aged, but Chandni-Chowk is growing at its own pace and not aging like everything else. The shopping had finished and my mother was seemingly pleased at everything we had bought. The wedding was fun, though I didn’t enjoy much as all my uncle were busy doing something or the other and I didn’t had any of my friends to attend the wedding, so I shoved off to sleep even before all the rites were performed.
After the wedding, I was back again, with being the couch potato I am. One fine weekend my father decided to pay a visit to Mathura at lord Krishna’s temple. Though my dormant mind resisted for a while, but I decided to visit the temple. My family was ready early morning to leave for Mathura. We took the Yamuna expressway to reach our destination. The expressway though is famous for major road accidents however has a very international feel to it. I chose to go behind the wheel and drove the car for a good two hundred kilometres. The only thing that I didn’t like about the highway was that it was cemented, which made our ride a little bumpy.
It gives me immense pleasure to drive cars. The mere thought of working with cars brings me on my edges. This train of thought led me to think about doing my masters in automobile engineering. As we reached Mathura, there was a long, tiring day awaiting us. As it was Sunday, it seemed whole Mathura had come out to greet the lord in large numbers. As we stood at the last end of the queue, I could see myriad colours all holding baskets of flowers and a puja thali. Large loudspeakers sang the glory of lord and his Rasleela.
The view was mesmerising and it sent me thinking about the unbelievable devotion and faith that rests with these people. Though they might have mammoth problems to deal with in their lives they still come out and display an unwavering faith in their deities. We did our darshan and had our dinner at one of the eateries they have set up at the Yamuna expressway. Our family had after a long time set out to eat. As always, my sister got to order her favourite dishes. She always gets away with her crabby behaviour because she is the youngest. I have stopped resenting that for a long time now.
Meanwhile the monsoons took over the city and the weather had become pleasing. I enjoyed the days with my friends and of course not forgetting the computer games. I am already in love with the people who make these games. I also enjoyed surfing through the net for various new technologies that have taken the world by storm, one among them being ‘The shape memory alloys’. They seem to be the next big thing in the machine world.
There were also some fun filled moments like the one in which we were playing football and suddenly it started raining and our game was turned into rugby. It was an amazing experience, a truly wet one. These vacations were delighting ones because I got to do something which I am best at- doing nothing. There was some serious gaming with my friends and some sweat breaking at the lovely rugby matches.
Though I didn’t do anything productive in these holidays , I enjoyed it to the fullest.

My vacations

“summer vacations “ are the most relaxing time in a student life. My name is Agam Jain & my vacations(7th may to 8th july)  are recently ended . Its my fisrt vacations after joining the collage & are realy special as I was going to share space with my family after ten months .The first few days went very relaxing I shared a lot of my experiences talked about collage, my friends , the difficulties I faced in starting  it was all very enjoyable I played with my cousins went to meet all my school friends & also my pani’s house for two days. I also did party’s with my friends watched movies and much more these things just made me remember my earlier life   . After few days I got into my routine started taking part in house hold activities and started managing my time for things I have decided to do in my vacations I was now away from my collage life and so were my friends there was only a little interaction and that to about a project that need to be submitted after vacations .
Half month was over & I was lucky to be a part of great event its a religious programme “Vedi pratishtha mahotsav” it’s a four day function but its preparation started 10 days before it . My father was one of chief coordinator of programme therefore ther was a lot responsibilities that were needed to be completed on top was to arrange accommodation  for the guests coming from out of station ,the layout of the programme ,  “patrika” for the event but this was not my problem I was just waiting for the programme to begin. I have taken part in skits that were going to be performed in the function . now the day of the event arrived first day it started with the pooja in the morning I with all my friends & family taken part in the pooja it was realy a very change and pleasing experience after the pooja it was time for “shobha yatra” it’s a jaloos a type of rally where we travel around city and enjoys a lot after that we had our lunch and prepare ourself for the night I rest for some time and then prepare for my role at night and then at night we start from bhakti then pravchan and then finally the skit for which I was preparing . we all performed well people liked it and the first day show was ended. All of this continued till 3 days pooja, Vidhans,  bhakti,  indrasabha &  manymore  till we reach the auspicious event of “ vedi pratishtha”  when our god’s idol was placed at there respective places this was the end of  the event but actually it was the starting. This is how these 15 days were over .next two three days just went in talking about the event and creating its memory in our mind. And with this we got to an end of one month of the vacations now as I was having 30 to 40 days left I joined the computer course and came back to my normal routine everything was going well and then my friend called and I got to know that results were out this was very shocking  as I was not prepared for this I was’nt able to watch the result till I came to know that most of my friends get clear then I also got my result told my parents and got to hear obvious comments .  this result thing certainly take me to my real life  I got active on social sites and came in contact with  my friends at the ending days of the vacations I just started preparing myself for the coming year it would be my second  year. Still there was something left it was my cousins birthday when we arranged a small trip to “Haridwar”  it is close to my hometown this trip was  short but we had great fun with all family  members it was for my cousins birthday but for me it was a goodbye gift.
This was last exciting thing that happened in my vacations after this on 8th july I return to my collage and now the only thing left is the memories  and a continuous countdown till next vacations.

               “My vacations”
After a long exhausting first year of my mechanical engineering on 6th of may, it’s was the time was much awaited holiday’s. A two months session break which will be never be deleted from my life’s memory. After reaching my hometown, nearly after four months, it had changed a lot for me, completely newly developed, with a lot’s of changes. I reached my home and was welcomed warmly by my parents who were waiting eagerly for my return. For two days I relaxed myself then on evening time called up my friends, we together took bike out went out in market and all places we can go. They too came after their semester exam to their hometown and were enjoying the town as I was enjoying it. We all went for a long drive to bridge of BAIRAJ over holly GANGA RIVER.  It’s a very cool place away from all the dirt of our town we much close to nature. On 12thMAY. I went my village named KARIBANS, there I met my DADA JI and all other family members. With my cousin brothers we went to many places near to my village, in the morning around 10 we use to get out for ride, take bath in pool named “hodei” in villages. And I must say the water in hodei which comes from underground using motors is the most chilled water, mainly in summer it’s feel like heavens in villages as their we have no ac so people us to go mainly males and have a bath in hodei, which gave a complete coolness to the body and I enjoyed it in day time twice I used to take enjoyment of that pool along with my cousin and in evening time we us to go to play and have a match around village school ground. More than half of village us to gather there and see match. Many days passed than I went to my bhuwaji’s house which is also in a village so I did not miss my village. My cousin brother came to take me and it was not a new place to me, I my childhood time I don’t know how times I went there, people I saw I knew them and they knew me. From their along with my cousin brother Mr. Hem Singh whom I call HEMMA, we went to VAISHNO Devi MAINDER in JAMMU AND KASHNIR.

From SHAHRANPUR we had our tickets booked in train and in evening time around 5:30 pm and we were on our journey to JAMMU AND KASHMIR and in morning 6:15 am on next day we reached JAMMU railway station. To continue our journey to VAISHNO DEVI MAINDER, we had to reach KATRA, a place at some distance from railway station. There we went to hotel and booked a room, got fresh and started our journey towards MAINDER, we started towards MAINDER at 10:30 am and it took a whole day to reach at the top off mountain where the MAINDER is situated. We reached their around 7:30 pm and got fresh after taking bath in bathrooms which are there at the top and I must in staring it was really very cool and did not had guts to take bath in that chilled water, but along with my brother I went there and had a bath, it was really very nice and refreshing. Then we had our DARSHAN of the MAINDER, and it was really awesome. We came out and also went to other MAINDER which were there. After three we were down to KATRA again, around 2:30 pm we had our train to go back to SHAHRANPUR, I will never forget my this trip with my brothers we were four but it was all fun, enjoyable and never forgettable trip. After four weeks off stay in my village I went back to my hometown BIJNOR. Their again I came back to my normal routine off waking up late in morning until my mother was shouting at me. I was waken up, got fresh, ate food, in after noon watched my one of favourite cartoon series ONE PIECE and in evening went for ride towards market with my friends.  Day came i had to go back to NOIDA as my college’s were opening. And my result also now I am in second year of my B.TECH MECHANICAL.

MY VACATIONS
Although I love my work and college but vacations are nevertheless most welcome. And it couldn’t have been better with exams ending after my first year in college. The best aspect of a vacation is escaping the stereotyped daily routine. So here I was, set to make the most  out of it. These were the days of recreation and rest and ofcourse they were hard earned after a rigorous exam schedule. As they began I was enthused to plan for the days ahead.
The only thing that was on my  mind was how to spend the vacation pleasantly in visiting new places, in reading of literature, spending quality time with my family, catching up on small joys of life with my childhood friends, relishing my mother’s cooking.
While reading through the literature I came across these inspiring  words by Langston Hughes
“Hold fast to dreams for if dreams die, life is a broken winged bird that cannot fly” I held my dream of becoming a thorough industrial professional since my high school although i will not have the oppurtunity to fulfil my desire until I get into a business school, undergoing the internship would have given me a chance to fulfil my dream.
So with the advice of my parents and other family members I won myself an internship at Escorts Construction Equipment Pvt. Lmt. after a short interview with the company’s HR personnel. The company’s location on the outskirts of the city in ballabgarh gave me a chance to enjoy long drives along the lush green fields and admire the beauty of countryside. I went there for 5 days a week and an average of 30 hours, a time well spent.
I had already found what I wanted .Our industrial guide gave us a warm welcome and briefed us about the functioning of production units. One month flew away within no time and I felt more confident and inspired. The valuable experience gained during internship did not only improve but also extended my potential.
I still had 15 days left from my vacations. So I planned a trekking trip to Manali.Manali is a paradise for trekking enthusiasts. The dense forests, lush green meadows, colourful flowers, the emerald blue lake, the cliffs and deep narrow gorges, the musical streams and the picturesque waterfalls were a delight to experience. The ups and downs during trekking made me a bit tired but exploring the virgin Himalayas under the blue sky with magnificient views allowed to to relax like nowhere else and the curiosity to know what lies beyond the next mountain pulled me deeper and deeper into the lap of mighty Himalayas.
Back from the trip, it was time for some pampering by my mother. It’s altogether a different feeling to rest the tired body lying on the couch and watching television while my mother cooked all my favourite dishes. A movie with the family gave a perfect ending to my vacation.
The last day paased by preparing to come to college .But there was a fresh mind body and soul raring to go and touch the skies. With a fresh surge of energy to conquer the world. And as it’s said:
“Too much work, too much vacation, too much of any one thing is unsound.”

So here I am again back to what  I enjoy the most.....my schedule .

My Vacations
The summer holidays are the days of recreation and rest since these days come after hard work. These days come after the declaration of the school result. As the holidays began, I was enthused to plan for the period. I did not have to think much of the examination.
I was only thinking how to spend the vacation pleasantly, in visiting places. I sought permission from my parents to pay a visit to jammu and Kashmir with my friends, a place that has fame all over the world. I had a desire to visit an ancient temple. I had heard of the attractive features of kashmir with all its pictures que beauty from one of my friends. Its climatic condition on account of its location close to the mountains further attracted my mind to pay a visit in summer.
In the first month of the vacations i didn’t move from my bed.i also sleep day and night just to take rest for the whole year hard work. After the declaration of the result on 6th May, I caught the flight for jammu and kashmir. The journey was interesting. I reached jammu first and there I visited parimahal, the dal lake and gulmarg to know the historical importance of the places. Next day I went to sonmarg from jammu by taxi. The temple of Lord Jagannath is sacred for the Hindus. The temple has a spacious yard surrounding it.
The attractive feature of the temple is that even the lowest caste people partake the Prasad offered to the gods with the highest caste people. The people of the highest caste do not reject to this tradition.
The crowd the place draws during summer is large. We offered our bhoga to the Lords. In the evening I spent the time in the local park enjoyed the cool breeze of the summer nights. The heat of summer was not felt there.
From jammu I went to sonmarg by taxi. There I lived in a hotel with five of my friends. I visited the movie, held talks with other friends. When I went shiv temple at jammu with my friends we had to climb hills. The passing of the evenings on the local parks was indeed joyous. On my way back to home I did not miss the opportunity of visiting the hoseboat at dal lake.
As the school was to be opened on 8 july , I had to put an end to my pleasure trip there.

Vacations are the best time to relax and enjoy and I eagerly wait for my summer vacations every year. Every year my school closes in the middle of the month of May and reopens by the end of June. Annual exams get over and the results are declared.
This time I got promoted to 2nd year from first year. After the hard labor for the examinations, I wanted some rest and also some refreshment. Hence I put aside my books for a few weeks. Next day morning I went out to play with my friends.

It was a very hot and sunny day so we decided to play indoor games. In the evening I asked my father and mother to take me to any of the hill stations because I wanted to beat the heat. My father told me that we cannot go to a hill station because all the hotels and resorts are booked beforehand only.

It was too hot, the sun was scorching and the wind was deliberating. Fortunately my uncle had invited my family to Haridwar where he had reached two weeks earlier. Me and my parents reached Haridwar. My uncle, my aunty and my cousins were all very excited to see all of us. They welcomed us with a warm heart.

At Haridwar I went to the bank of River Ganga in the morning and it was very pleasant to see hundreds of men and women bathing in the stream of Ganga and then offering prayers in the different temples of its “Ghats”.

I requested my uncle to take us to the hilly spots in the vicinity. He was kind enough to take all of us there. The hill sights of Laxmi jhoola, Swargashram and many other spots fascinated me. I saw a large number of trees bearing beautiful fruits and flowers.

The peeping of Sun’s rays in the morning and evening was really very charming. The waterfall at some distances shone like flowing silver in the moonlight. The cool breeze was always felt. No heat or dust of the plain was felt here. I was very much pleased.

We remained there for two whole weeks. From there my father and my uncle planned to go on a pilgrimage. We left for Mathura and Vrindavan. There we had darshan of Dwarkadhish, Rangji, Behariji, and of many other temples.

We then went to Girirajji. We also went to Karoli and Mahaveerji, a place of Jain pilgrimage.

What I saw is that small children were playing in the park with their parents and friends which was such a cute and adorable moment of my life.At the evening I went to gym as usual to maintain my body and physique to look better day by day.and after my fun was cam to an end and vacations were over.

Of all the vacations in my life, this was my best summer vacation ever, mainly because my cousins were also there. We had collected memories for a lifetime. I told my parents that we will plan similar holidays for every summer vacation, in the coming years.

He firmly nodded to what I said. The vacation was over and I was back to college but my mind was still remembering the sweet memories of the summer vacation. I will await the next summer holidays and would love to go on this type of vacation again and again. But unfortunately this was my last summer vacations.

MY VACATIONS

The summer holidays are the days of recreation and rest since these days come after hard work. These days come after the completion of my end year exam. As the holidays began, I was enthused to plan for the period. I did not have to think much of the examination.
Summer vacation is probably the happiest period in a student's life. In plains this lasts for about two months. These vacations generally commence from the second week of May every year. The purpose of the summer vacation is multifold.
One is relaxation. A student gets fatigued after the end of the annual examination. He needs rest to recoup health and vitality. The second purpose is to tide over the unbearable heat of the summer months. The third purpose is to provide a chance to a student to make up his deficiency in any particular subject. It also gives an opportunity to him to visit new places. Travelling is an experience and has with it educative value.
I was only thinking how to spend the vacation pleasantly, in visiting places, in reading of literature. I sought permission from my parents to pay a visit to Puri, a place that has fame all over the world. I had a desire to visit an ancient temple. I had heard of the attractive features of Puri with all its pictures que beauty from one of my friends. Its climatic condition on account of its location close to the seaside further attracted my mind to pay a visit in summer.
After the completion of the exam  on 6th May, I caught the Talcher Puri train.
The attractive feature of the temple is that even the lowest caste people partake the Prasad offered to the gods with the highest caste people. The people of the highest caste do not reject to this tradition.
The crowd the place draws during summer is large. We offered our bhoga to the Lords.
As the college was to be opened on 8th July, I had to put an end to my pleasure trip there. I had no much money make further journey. But the vacation was to end one day. So was the case of our short trip to puri. Time rolled on and the day approached when we had to leave that place. There was a great rush of passengers at puri. We contacted the station master who helped us in securing berths in the train. We reached Delhi early in the morning.

Summer   vacation happened to be the happiest period of my life. This vacation started from 6th of May first I thought what I will do in vacation I thought   I will get bored in the vacation. And I also didn’t want to go my home I wanted to stay at Delhi but after  few days I decided to go to my hometown  Chirawa. I started enjoying my vacation with my friend and family. I had many friends in Chirawa but there are two friends   whom I consider   as my brother. We enjoyed a lot and most important thing is that I was at my home9home sweet home). My mother felt very happy to see me at home. The purpose of the summer vacation is to tide over the unbearable heat of the summer month and the other purpose in to provide a chance me to make up for my deficiency in subjects.  It also give opportunity to me to visit new places I visited many places in vacation like Manali, Jaipur and my “nanny’s house”. The weather was terrific at Manali. After visiting that place I got to know the real beauty of the earth and also visited some temples in Rajasthan only to know the historical importance of the temples. I visited these places with my family and I enjoyed a lot the duration of the trip was 20 days and it was unforgettable movement of my life.
I had to do many works in the summer vacation I had to make my license ,pan card, had to open new account in bank and also had to make Aadhar card . I had got term paper in my vacation which was started from 13th of May and to be finished before 23th of June. I had to send mail to my respected sir Mr. Praven Vishwakarma (my mentor).about my topic which I select as my term paper topic.  My topic was internal combustion engine. We had to mail about my topic to sir once in a weak and I regularly mailed to sir. And I got to know many things about the internal combustion engine.  During summer vacation I also joined gym for one month with my best friend Mridul and usually I would go for morning walk at 6 o clock with my friend and when we come at home after morning walk we usually went to temple and we had lots of fun in morning taking pictures while coming back from the morning walk. And also we did a photo shoot with my car and that photo shoot was awesome and very memorable too.

I also had a trip to water parking Gurgoan with my friends it  was only one day trip I had a particularly happy day that was the happiest day of my summer vacation.  We make plan to go fan and food village (Water Park) which is in Gurgoan. I could not sleep with excitement on the night before we going Water Park. I finished my packing and equipment ready at night. We had to go in taxi .  I got up early. We enjoy in car while traveling we listen song in car then at last we reached water park we all feel very happy and enthusiastic. Then we bought tickets and entered in the water park. Then I and my friends went to locker room for swim suit and we kept our spare things into the locker. There we saw many water slides then we jumped into the water the feeling speared through my whole body a burst of cool. I claimed up the water dripping in the slide lay at the top of the body suddenly  as I like a small fish to slide down on the water  whiz my ear and the sound of water friction I was enjoying the cool water. Then at 7 o clock we decided to come back at home the trip was very awesome we all enjoy a lot there. This was the first trip I got to go with my friends. My result also came in summer vacation itself. I got 6.4 CGPA which is very low grade. When my parents come to know about my result they sternly asked me to work hard and get good result in next semester. At the end of summer vacation a got my license, my pan card and I have an account in bank.

The summer vacation was a happy experience for me and its memory is still green in my mind.

MY VACATIONS
The infamous “What I did on my Summer Vacation Essay”, I’m not sure I was ever assigned that one. Suddenly I see myself in Junior English. I was 16 then, a bespectacled carefree high-school kid. And it almost was, but only almost because there I was sitting in my name brand jeans thought I probably spent all my birthday money on. I am also pretty sure that I woke up at least an hour before school started to pack my school bag.
But back to my 16 year old self, English was just a class. Not one I particularly looked forward to either. If anyone had asked my favorite subject I never would have said English. I dreaded the essays and sentence diagramming. I did look forward to the reading lists, although, I tried not to appear too eager. I complained as much as the rest as the class, but at home I read them. Cover to cover. Usually well before the deadline. I hated homework of read chapters one and two. I read books, like I later learned to drink beer. Fast until I finished. I couldn’t stop at the end of chapter two. I needed to know what happened like I needed another drink.
And I liked the excuse to read, at this stage I oft felt like I needed one. Reading was kind of cool for a while. Me and Abhinav were the best of friends since elementary school. I also went through a slightly embarrassing Babysitters Club phase, because my parents were out working. Sometime in junior high those books seemed babyish, and replaced with talking on the phone, listening to music (really bad music I might add) and playing football or cricket. So when we got our reading lists every year I dug in.
You already have most of the background, but what you don’t know is that I was more than a bit guarded. I didn’t like letting people in. Really in. Being vulnerable wasn’t exactly safe in my family and well not that safe for anyone in high school period. That being said I would have killed for our first writing assignment to be “what I did on my summer vacation”. Surely I would have written something amusing or satirical. I doubt I would have truly written about our beach vacation where more than likely my parents screamed at each other, and then I was grounded for 2 weeks, for no apparent fault of mine. I can’t remember that summer in particular but they were all pretty much the same. Not to say there weren’t any warm memories from those summer retreats. Surprisingly there are many, but at 16 you kind of gravitate towards the bad stuff. The melancholy teenager hanging on to anything to give him a thick wall to build around herself. Yes, I would have written something light and clever and given it a really zingy title. I was well known for my zingy titles. Instead Mrs. Dey asked us to write not one silly essay but a collection of private personal ones. I believe it was called a “me book”. I cringed as she described the assignment. Now, as a teacher I can see what she was trying to do. She wanted to get to know us. Who we were, what we liked, how we wrote, how to reach us. The problem was, I was 16 and she wasn’t one of them. A grown up. A teacher. A mom of a kid in our class. She was not to be trusted. How could I write all these essays on who I was, my strongest influences, the things I was most proud of etc.. Maybe later in the year. Maybe by April or something when we had a chance to feel each other out. Not now. Not the first week. I can picture her clearly. She was about my mom’s age. Short, with short dark hair. She was always very smartly dressed, much more stylish than my mom. She always seemed a bit shifty to me. She had this large mole on her face that I couldn’t help but stare at as she lectured. It was about the size of a dime and I swear it got bigger as the year went on. She was probably a pretty good teacher, although she made me uneasy. Usually good teachers fall into one of two categories: cold, hard and feared, but eventually that fear turns into respect and the cold starts to warm. This would be Mrs. Biswas my 6th grades science teacher and first F-grade I ever received on a test. Next would be the warm and encouraging type. You learned so much simply because you wanted to please them. This would be my 10th grade English teacher, Mrs. David. I wouldn’t have memorized that ridiculously long Friends, Romans, Countrymen speech for anyone else. Mrs. Biswas didn’t quite fit into either category. I suppose she was hard, but not especially challenging. I didn’t warm to her, nor did I truly respect her. I did, however, like to argue with her. This was her fault of course. She introduced our poetry unit with this long flowery speech about how no opinion or interpretation of a poem could be wrong. There were no dumb questions or bad observations. Once again, as a fellow educator I can see what she was trying to do. She wanted to create a safe atmosphere for us to speak up and discuss. The only problem with that was she announced to my class that my observation was dead wrong only 15 minutes after her flowery speech. I didn’t burn with shame, instead I took it as a challenge. Maybe this challenge was just what I needed to motivate me to prove myself to her academically or maybe all it motivated me to do was oppose her every time in class for the next 2 weeks.
Back to my first week assignment…These personal essays had a cold fearful grip on me. Usually my writing process involved mulling the topic over for a bit and then pouring it all out on paper the day or so (or occasionally the period) before it was due. I didn’t proofread or spellcheck. I finished them in a flurry and handed them in. I think I was afraid if I gave them a proper reading I would be too embarrassed to even have them graded. My spelling was not something to be envied. I never quite got a great grasp on grammar either. To this day I couldn’t tell you what an errand is(I can!). I somehow managed to get As, although my essays were usually heavily marked with red. These essays were different. I was supposed to reveal something about myself. To her. To someone who could be my mother…and that would be the last person I wanted to be unguarded around. Sometimes I still feel that way. I briefly just considered making it all up. Some fictional crap that would satisfy her little assignment and still get me a good grade. It might even be fun, making things the way I wanted them to be instead of how they were. I also considered doing what I usually (yes still) do when I am a bit uncomfortable and guarded…being funny. Writing decent essays, but not digging in. Keeping them on the surface and full of satire. The struggle was I couldn’t do either. It felt like I would be cheapening it somehow. I didn’t trust this Mrs. Biswas. It was still too early to tell if she would earn my respect, but I realized the writing already had. That it didn’t just get to scratch the surface or be passed off as a joke. That it was bigger than my fear. So I did it. I wrote about my fears and my hopes and my proudest moments. I put it all on paper and fearfully turned it in. Who it was this 16 year old boy thought he was. I saved one of those essays. I think it is in my high school box up in my parent’s attic. I did get an A. I can’t remember if it was really any good or not. I didn’t sign up to be my high school magazine editor or go on to pursue a degree in journalism. I didn’t spend all my free time writing short stories instead of watching 90210, but it did teach me that this writing stuff was real. It had to be vulnerable, and it was most certainly to be respected, big hairy mole and all.
Keeping them on the surface and full of satire”. I’ve done it, again! I basically had nothing to write about my Summer Vacations, I did practically nothing – other than sleeping and watching TV Shows and movies. Drudgery of routine, not proper routine but. Nothing of quality, other than playing football religiously every day during the holidays!

So, this is my – “My vacation” essay. I hope it satisfies you, Sir!
