Group No. 12 Guide to job hunt

                                         Guide to job hunt
Ø What actually job hunt is?
Job huntingjob seeking, or job searching is the act of looking for employment, due to unemployment or discontent with a current position. The immediate goal of job seeking is usually to obtain a job interview with an employer which may lead to getting hired. The job hunter or seeker typically first looks for job vacancies or employment opportunities.

Ø Basic elements kept in mind for effective job search
·        Building  your qualifications

Revise your resume
Before you start job hunting, make sure that your resume is as complete and up-to-date as possible. Your resume is an important distillation of who you are, where you come from, and what you can offer. Here are a few tips to consider.

Develop your personal elevator pitch
In an interview the interviewer wants to get you to relax and loosen out your vocal cords, understand your background, your accomplishments, why you want to work at XYZ company and what your future goals are.

·        Setting your goal

It's important for you to set the nature of the job fits your personality and salary requirements otherwise you'll have spent a significant amount of time to find a day job you dread getting up for every morning. So be realistic about what you expect, and be clear of what you want.
·        Completely googled and updated about latest areas of work

You should have enough information about the market and try to grab every possible opportunity coming in the way because in this competitive time you can’t afford to an any opportunity from your hands
·        Try to maintain economic stability

Potential employers can smell desperation and it isn’t attractive. If you are totally stressed out about paying the rent, you won’t be in the best frame of mind to conduct a proactive job search. One great way to make some extra cash without working fulltime is tutoring (for high school courses, college application essays, SATs, GMATs, etc).

Maintain a budget is also a better option because it let you know about your monthly requirements and also let you aware about your expending so that you can control it.
·        Working on your attitude

Attitude now a days is a key factor for success it is something that has been the focus of the recruits .Therefore your attitude should be up to the mark for better results.

Ø Role of internet

In 1998, 15 percent of unemployed jobseekers used the Internet to seek jobs, as did half of all jobseeker with online access from home. In the current “e-commerce”  much attention has been paid to how the Internet is transforming product markets. And this could be verified by the fact that more than 2000 job seeking sites are available today.

Ø Tips for a job searcher

·        Updating your resume to include examples of how you thrive in challenging times, how you excel at stretching a budget, how you can bring in new clients and new revenue right away.
·        Making 5 calls a day to networking contacts, rather than making 5 a week.
·        Attending one networking event a week, rather than one a month.
·        Following up immediately after you meet someone or learn of an opportunity. Return calls right away, send a thank you email the same day you have an interview, send in a resume as soon as you learn of an opportunity.

NATIONAL DEMOCRATIC ALLIANCE ( NDA )
NDA is the centre right coalition party led by the Bhartiya Janta Party and chaired by the former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Currently there are eleven parties in the NDA coalition which is in opposition in the union parliament while holding power in many states.  The coalition was in power as the government of Indian Union from 1998 to 2004.
What is a coalition Government ?
There are 2 major coalition parties in India - The NDA and The UPA. Currently the coalition of UPA led by AICC is in the rule and the NDA led by the BJP is in the opposition in the country's parliament. A coalition government is a cabinet of a parliamentary government in which several political parties cooperate, reducing the dominance of any one party within that coalition. The usual reason given for this arrangement is that no party on its own can achieve a majority in the parliament.
History
The declaration of NDA in May 1998 was followed by the formation of the government in 1998 Lok Sabha polls but was not able to stand for long. The government collapsed in a year after the backout of All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK), Tamil Nadu. But due to its new concept of coalition in the country, it survived the 1999 elections and registered a victory with greater majority. In June 2013 one of its largest stake holder’s  Janta Dal United (JDU) led by the Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar parted from the alliance on the basis of different ideologies from other members. The then convener of the alliance Mr.Sharad Yadav from JDU also resigned  his designation.
Structure
NDA does not have any formal governing structure or politburo. It is up to the leaders of the various political parties joining the alliance who decide on different issues such as the distribution of seats, allocation of ministries, issues raised in parliament etc. Moreover the alliance is been dominated by the India’s second largest party Bhartiya Janata Party and various  other regional parties like the Shiromani Akali Dal of Punjab and Shiv Sena of Maharashtra.
Stake Holder’s
Bharatiya Janata Party (137 MPs )
Shiv Sena - Maharashtra (12 MPs)
Shiromani Akali Dal (8 MPs)
NDA’s Mission, Vision and Agenda
The NDA's mission in politics is to build a bond of trust between Government and people. This is the only way a democracy can flourish; but unfortunately has been ignored by the Congress during its prolonged rule.
Therefore, the NDA pledges to the people of India a Government which shares their hopes and anxieties and which will work as partner with all people irrespective of class, caste and religion - not just with a privileged few. This is our contract with the people.
Our vision is one of national renewal with modern programmes of change for a resurgent India.
We reach out to the minorities and even at the cost of repetition proclaim that we will safeguard their rights as enshrined in our Constitution. NDA is the political arm of none other than the Indian people as a whole. No one will be cast aside; fairness and justice will be rendered to one and all and we assure you that there will not be any discrimination.
The Agenda of the National Democratic Alliance affirms the constituent parties’ joint commitment for ending the misrule of the Congress-led UPA Government at the Centre. It rests on the following principles:
• National Security - ensuring full combat effectiveness of our armed forces;
• National Reconstruction - an end to divisiveness and a moratorium on contentious issues;
• Dynamic diplomacy - In service of motherland to obtain for India it's rightful place in the comity of nations;
• Federal harmony - ensuring a partnership of the Centre and States;
• Economic Modernization - harnessing technology for rapid, equitable growth;
• Secularism - the emotional harmony of all Indians and full protection of minorities;
• Social Justice - empowerment of all weaker sections and gender rights;
• Probity - transparency of decision-making and corruption-free governance.

Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC)
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. (DMRC) is a state owned company that operates the Delhi Metro in the National Capital Region of India. Besides operating the metro, the DMRC is also involved in the planning and implementation of metro rail, monorail and high speed rail projects in India. The DMRC has equal equity participation from the Government of India and the Government of Delhi.
History
DMRC was registered on 3 May 1995 under the Companies Act, 1956 for the implementation and subsequent operation of the Delhi Metro. E. Sreedharan was appointed as the first managing director of DMRC. Sreedharan handed over charge as MD of DMRC to Mangu Singh on 31 December 2011.
The Ministry of Urban Development (MoUD) instructed the DMRC to set up a separate subsidiary company to provide consultancy services. The intention was to let DMRC focus on the Delhi Metro while the separate firm will provide consultancy services. The decision was reportedly taken following the appointment of DMRC as a consultant in the Kochi Metro project, on the Kerala Government's insistence. According to an MoUD official, "The objective is to provide consultancy services without infringing in the main functioning of Delhi Metro. The sister company of the DMRC will also be registered under Companies Act 1956."
DMRC has made it compulsory to wear safety helmets on construction sites. It also earns carbon credits with rainwater harvesting at metro stations and runs an HIV/AIDS programme for workers.
Work on other Projects
Consultant
The DMRC has a business development department which is in charge of the consultancy services. DMRC has served as the project consultant and has prepared detailed project reports (DPR) for every metro and monorail project in India except the Chennai MRTS, which was constructed before the formation of DMRC. DMRC also serves as consultant and prepared the DPR for the proposed. Thiruvananthapuram - Mangalore High-Speed Passenger Corridor.
In September 2012, DMRC announced that it had been awarded the work of 'Management Consulting Services' of the Jakarta Mass Rapid Transit system by the Indonesian government. This will be DMRC's first project outside India. DMRC will work as part of a joint venture with 8 other international companies including Padeco and Oriental Consultant, PT Ernst and Young Advisory Services, PT Indotek Engineering Jaya, PT Pamintori Cipia, Lambaga Management and PT Public Private Partnership from Indonesia and Seneca Group. DMRC has stated that its main responsibilities in the JV will be the "finalisation of the organisational structure of the Jakarta Metro, recruitment of personnel, development of training facilities and the training of the employees for various categories required for commencing the operations".
Former DMRC Managing Director, E. Sreedharan claimed that DMRC has been sought as a consultant for developing metro rail infrastructure in Colombo, Dhaka, Damascus, Lahore and Israel.
Implementation
The DMRC is involved with the implementation, including construction, of the Kochi Metro and Jaipur Metro.
DMRC Institute
DMRC Training Institute in Shastri Park, Delhi is used for training staff and executives of metro rail operators in India. This institute provides 'simulator' training in which motormen learn how to drive trains in modes such as the Automatic Train. Its training also includes Siemens signaling system and station operation and management, among other aspects. It is the only metro rail training institute in South Asia. DMRC has trained 300 staff from Namma Metro, Kochi Metro, Chennai Metro, Rapid Metro Gurgaon and Jaipur Metro.
DMRC in partnership with Indian Institute of Technology Delhi is offering a one-year postgraduate diploma in metro technology. The course will produce 25 executives a year to staff metros across India. Indian Institute of Technology Madras also offers a similar course.
Notable Works
Delhi Metro
Delhi Metro is a rapid transit system serving Delhi, Gurgaon, Faridabad, Noida, and Ghaziabad in the National Capital Region of India. Delhi Metro is the world's 13th largest metro system in terms of length. Delhi Metro is India's first modern public transportation system, which has revolutionized travel by providing a fast, reliable, safe, and comfortable means of transport. The network consists of six lines with a total length of 189.63 kilometres (117.83 mi) with 142 stations, of which 35 are underground, five are at-grade, and the remainder are elevated. All stations have escalators, elevators, and tactile tiles to guide the visually impaired from station entrances to trains.
The metro has an average daily ridership of 2.01 million commuters, and, as of August 2010, had already carried over 1.25 billion commuters since its inception. The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation has been certified by the United Nations as the first metro rail and rail-based system in the world to get "carbon credits for reducing greenhouse gas emissions" and helping in reducing pollution levels in the city by 630,000 tonnes every year. Delhi Metro has also helped a great deal in reducing the traffic on the busy Delhi roads since its inception. Delhi Metro is only the second metro in the world after New York City Subway to be ISO 14001 certified for environmentally friendly construction.
Kochi Metro
Kochi Metro, is an under construction rapid transit system for the city of Kochi in Kerala, India. The first phase is being set up at an estimated cost of INR5181 crore (US$880 million), and is expected to be completed by 7 June 2016. Kochi Metro will have one line and a total of 22 stations. The system length of the Kochi Metro will be 25.612 km.
On 22 December 2004, the Government of Kerala assigned the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) the task of preparing the detailed project report (DPR) for the Kochi Metro rail project. It was expected to start by 2006 and complete by 2010. But the project was delayed because the Central Government expressed serious doubts about the economic viability of the project.
Jaipur Metro
The Jaipur Metro is a rapid transit system under construction in the city of Jaipur, Rajasthan, India. Construction of the first part of the first line, comprising 9.2 km from Mansarovar  to Chandpole Bazaar, started on November 13, 2010.The Jaipur Metro Rail system is expected to be India's fourth Metro Rail system after those in Kolkata, Delhi and Bangalore, with the Mansarovar-Chandpole segment expected to open to the public as early as August 2013.On 4 July 2013 Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot after review meeting directed officials not to settle for any compromises on the quality of work and safety of people. With this, the metro poject in the pink city will not start running until December 2013.Jaipur Metro will have two lines and a total of 29 stations and the system length will be 32.5 km.
Jakarta Mass Rapid Transit
The Jakarta Mass Rapid Transit System is an ongoing infrastructure project in Jakarta, the capital city of Indonesia. It consists of a partially elevated and partially underground railway system. Soft launching of the first phase of the project took place on May 2, 2013. Jakarta is the capital city of Indonesia, harboring over 8 million inhabitants. It is predicted that over four million residents of the surrounding Jabodetabek area commute to and from the city each working day. Transport issues have increasingly begun to attract political attention and it has been forseen that without a major transportation breakthrough, traffic jams will overwhelm the city by 2020.
The rail-based Jakarta MRT is expected to stretch across over 108 kilometres, including 21.7 km for the North-South Corridor (From Lebak Bulus to Kampung Bandan) and 87 km for East-West Corridor(From Balaraja to Cikarang). This will be DMRC's first project outside India. DMRC will work as part of a joint venture with 8 other international companies including Padeco and Oriental Consultant, PT Ernst and Young Advisory Services, PT Indotek Engineering Jaya, PT Pamintori Cipia, Lambaga Management and PT Public Private Partnership from Indonesia and Seneca Group.DMRC has stated that its main responsibilities in the JV will be the "finalisation of the organisational structure of the Jakarta Metro, recruitment of personnel, development of training facilities and the training of the employees for various categories required for commencing the operations".
Thiruvananthapuram–Mangalore high-speed passenger corridor
The Thiruvananthapuram–Mangalore high-speed passenger corridor is a proposed high-speed rail corridor in India connecting the capital city of Kerala, Thiruvananthapuram with Mangalore in Karnataka.
The Thiruvananthapuram – Mangalore high-speed passenger corridor was mooted in the 2009-10 budget speech of the LDF government. The project was cleared by the State Cabinet in February 2010.The Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation (KSIDC) was appointed as the nodal agency to develop the project. The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) conducted the pre-feasibility study of the project. The pre-feasibility report recommended that the project should be extended by another 42km to Mangalore instead of the original proposal for the northern terminus to be at Kasargod, as the projected traffic load tapered to a thin margin between Kozhikode and Kasargod. DMRC will submit a detailed project report (DPR) for the project by July 2013. The corridor length will be 630 km and will comprise of 11 stations.
Apart from these projects DMRC has also  been sought as a consultant for developing metro rail infrastructure in Colombo, Dhaka, Damascus, Lahore and Israel.

Seven Sisters of India

(Jagjot Singh, Ayush awasthi, Ankit Antil, Anuj Pratap Singh, Akash Sahu)

Intro:

The 7 Sister States also called "Paradise Unexplored" is a name given to the

    contiguous states of Arunachal

Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland and Tripura in northeastern India.

These states cover an area of 255,511 km2

a population of 44.98 million in 2011, about 3.7 percent of India's total. Although there is great ethnic

and religious diversity within the seven states, they also have similarities in political, social and economic

contexts.

The states with their capitals:

Arunachal Pradesh - Itanagar

Assam - Dispur

Meghalaya - Imphal

Manipur - Shilong

Mizoram - Aizwal

Nagaland - Kohima

Tripura – Agartala

Then we wrote about their histories:

When India became independent from the United Kingdom in 1947, only three states covered the

area. Manipur and Tripura were princely states, while a much larger Assam Province was under

direct British rule. Its capital was Shillong (present day Meghalaya's capital). Four new states were

carved out of the original territory of Assam in the decades following independence, in line with

the policy of the Indian government of reorganizing the states along ethnic and linguistic lines.

Accordingly, Nagaland became a separate state in 1963, followed by Meghalaya in 1972. Mizoram

became a Union Territory in 1972, and achieved statehood - along with Arunachal Pradesh - in 1987.

Then we wrote about the languages and culture of the peoples there:

Except for Assam, where the major language is Assamese, and Tripura, where the major language

is Bengali, the region has a predominantly tribal population that speaks numerous Tibeto-Burman

and Austroasiatic languages. Meitei, the third most spoken language in this region is a TibetoBurman language. Hinduism and Christianity are the predominant religions in this region. The large and

populous states of Assam, Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh and Tripura remain predominantly Hindu, with a

sizable Muslim minority in Assam. Through the work of Christian missionaries, Christianity has become

the major religion in the states of Nagaland, Mizoram and Meghalaya.

, or about 7 percent of India's total area. They had

Then we wrote for what this states is famous for:

Main industries in the region are tea-based, crude oil and natural gas, silk, bamboo and handicrafts.

The states are heavily forested and have plentiful rainfall. There are beautiful wildlife sanctuaries, teaestates and mighty rivers like Brahmaputra. The region is home to one-horned rhinoceros, elephants and

other endangered wildlife.

Then we wrote about their interdependency:

The landlocked Northeastern region of the country comprises seven separate states whose geographical

and practical needs of development underscore their need to thrive and work together. A compact

geographical unit, the Northeast is isolated from the rest of India except through the Siliguri Corridor,

a slender and vulnerable corridor, flanked by alien territories. Assam is the gateway through which the

sister states are connected to the mainland. Tripura, a virtual enclave almost surrounded by Bangladesh,

strongly depends on Assam. Nagaland, Meghalaya and Arunachal depend on Assam for their internal

communications. Manipur and Mizoram's contacts with the main body of India are through Assam's Barak

Valley. Raw material requirements also make the states mutually dependent. All rivers in Assam's plains

originate in Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland and western Meghalaya. Manipur's rivers have their sources

in Nagaland and Mizoram; the hills also have rich mineral and forest resources. Petroleum is found in the

plains.

The plains depend on the hills also on vital questions like flood control. A correct strategy to control floods

in the plains calls for soil conservation and a forestation in the hills. The hills depend on the plains for

markets for their produce. They depend on the plains even for food grains because of limited cultivable

land in the hill.

To provide a forum for collaboration towards common objectives, the Indian government established

the North Eastern Council in 1971. Each state is represented by its Governor and Chief Minister. The

Council has enabled the Seven Sister States to work together on numerous matters, including the

provision of educational facilities and electric supplies to the region.

On a whole the product dit not satisfy my expectation and I am very much disappointed with it.

Dear Mr. Kumar,

Re: Faulty Machine

This letter is in reference with our order dated 21st July 2013 bearing invoice no. 742901 of a HP Laserjet Printer model no. 3055. We received our order on 24th July 2013, and on inspection it was found that the machine you delivered was faulty.

Initially, the machine was working perfectly fine. But one week after its purchase the printer started giving problems. Often, the printer does not respond to the commands given to it. One command has to be given multiple times for it to work. Even the papers get stuck in the printer sometimes and the printer starts making noises. I checked the user manual to understand what the problem was, but nothing helped. The machine therefore, is not fulfilling its purpose properly and this is causing a lot of inconvenience in our day-to-day functions.

Since printer is still in the warranty period, I kindly request you to either replace the defected machine or refund the money paid to you, latest by one week.

Hoping to hear from you with a positive response.

Thanking You.
