Auto expo 2014 Review(Suzuki V-Storm 1000)-With two-wheeler manufacturers on a

launching spree to get flagship models into the Indian market, Suzuki has swung into action as well, launching

its V-Strom 1000 adventure bike at the Auto Expo 2014. The Suzuki V-Strom 1000 is an adventure tourer and comes with styling unique to adventure class motorcycles. The high-placed headlight gives the bike a
 distinct appeal with a beaked front-end. The instrument cluster features multi-information display and highquality

switchgear with ride mode selection. Sporting black cladding around the tank, the V-Strom imposes a

masculine yet agile look. This new motorcycle gets an LED tail-light, with indicators showing off a honeycomb

design.Moving on to mechanicals, the Suzuki V-Strom 1000 is powered by a four-stroke, 1037cc, liquid-cooled

and VTwin engine, mated to a six-speed gearbox. The bike features an upright riding position with an adjustable

wind screen. The motorcycle comes with inverted telescopic front forks, and a rear monoshock and braking

power in the form of dual discs with a 110/80 x 19 tyre up front and a single disc on a 150/70 x 17 tyre at the

rear, with ABS available as standard.Suzuki V-Strom 1000 is brought to India through the CBU route and is

priced at Rs 15 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Bookings for the same have already commenced, with deliveries

expected to start by the end of this month Review(Hyundai santafe)- Hyundai finally launched the new Santa Fe

at the Auto Expo and with this ends a rather long wait for many waiting to get their hands on it. Yes, Hyundai

has taken its own sweet time to bring out the latest version of the Santa Fe, but the fact is that the Korean

carmaker had a very strong reason to do so. Simply put, it was costs. The new Santa Fe will be assembled in

India from CKD kits but this time around the SUV will use a lot of locally-sourced components. Still, the Santa

Fe is not particularly cheap. Prices start at Rs 26.3 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the two-wheel drive manual,

while the two-wheel drive automatic costs Rs 27.33 lakh and the four-wheel drive automatic version caps the

range at Rs 29.25 lakh. So can Hyundai's new flagship in India justify it’s near- Rs 30 lakh price tag?

Well, it certainly looks the part. Marginally longer (though a good 45mm lower) than the outgoing Santa Fe, the

new version has great presence. There's a healthy dose of chrome on Hyundai's trademark hexagonal grille, the

swept-back headlight looks very modern and detailing on the bumper is nice too. Even in profile, the Santa Fe manages to hold your attention thanks to its bold shoulder line and interesting glasshouse. Rear styling is neat as well, with a smart cut that arcs across the tailgate. A closer inspection will also have your eyes lock on to the

superb detailing on the headlights - the xenon units come lined with LED daytime running lamps. More than

anything else, they give an idea of the generous level of standard equipment the Santa Fe comes with.

Braving chilly weather and long distances, more than 1 lakh people visited India’s flagship automobile show on Saturday, forcing organisers to periodically close entry to one of the display halls. 

Through the day, auto enthusiasts thronged the venue of Auto Expo 2014 in Greater Noida, about 35 kilometres from the national capital, to get a glimpse of luxury cars, superbikes and Bollywood stars.

According to the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers, 1.1 lakh people visited the expo on Saturday. The show had attracted more than 60,000 visitors per day.

The Greater Noida Expressway, a six-lane highway that connects Noida in Uttar Pradesh with Greater Noida, which normally sees little traffic on weekends, was clogged up as Delhiites made their way to the show.

Although an online ticketing system was set up this year, long queues formed at the ticket counters during the day. Many people had to ask for directions to reach the counters. Ticket prices were kept atRs.200 and Rs.500. The Auto Expo is a biennial automotive show held in New Delhi, India. It is Asia's largest and the world's second-largest motor show.

The expo is organized at Pragati Maidan and is organized jointly by the Automotive Component Manufacturers Association (ACMA), Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM).

The 12th Edition of Auto Expo was divided into two events:

12th Auto Expo 2014 (Components) which was held at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi from 6 to 9 February 2014.

12th Auto Expo 2014 (The Motor Show) which was held at India Expo Mart, Greater Noida, Delhi-NCR from 7 to 11 February .

Mahindra has been pioneering in the electric car segment with consistent efforts from its electric mobility division. Mahindra acquired REVA Electric Vehicles has been instrumental in bringing the e2o car and now the Mahindra Verito Electric sedan to production. Taking a step further in electric mobility, the company unveiled the HALO sports car concept globally at the 2014 Auto Expo.

The Mahindra Halo is a two-seater fully electric sports car that has been indigenously developed by Mahindra REVA’s in-house team. The car receives a soft toned styling with more rounded lines and creases and looks more practical rather than being radical, which most concepts tend to be. The designers at Mahindra wanted convey the idea of an everyday sports car that is easy to live with and drive on a day to day basis. The concept could also spawn a four-door, five-seater sports car in the future.

In terms of powertrain, the electric motor will be capable of producing 105 KW (140 BHP) and will be equipped with a high-capacity battery, as seen on a Tesla. The Halo sports car is capable of 0-100 km/hr under 8 seconds with a top speed of over 160 km/hr and a driving range of 200 kms.  The interiors  get dual touchscreen infotainment system and high end connectivity along with top notch quality. The car will be loaded with advanced safety features to keep the occupants safe.

Mahindra has immensely upped its game in the recent years and will be contesting against the electric car company Tesla with the Halo. Mahindra plans to conduct studies in India and Europe to understand market feasibility and customer reaction for an all electric sports car. The sports car is likely to be priced around Rs. 30 – 35 lakhs and Mahindra plans to sell the Halo in Indian and international markets when launched. The production version of the car will be ready by early 2016.

At the 2014 Indian Auto Expo, Hyundai has displayed its new HND-9 Venace Coupe Concept. This concept had been unveiled earlier at the Seoul Motor Show. It is said that the HND-9 Venace shows the next generation design philosophy of Hyundai. This luxury Coupe Concept shows the future of Hyundai in the sports car segment, which will feature the company’s updated Fluidic sculpture and Design.This new Hyundai vehicle gets aggressive taillights, 22-inch alloy wheels, butterfly doors as well as a hexagonal front grille. These are said to be some of the major highlights of this new concept vehicle. The Hyundai HND-9 Venace Coupe Concept measures 1890mm in width, 4696mm in length and 1340mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2860mm. The concept car is expected to be powered by a 3.3-litre gasoline engine that is capable of producing power up to 360bhp. The power of the engine gets transmitted to the rear wheels through the 8 speed auto transmission.

Worth mentioing here is that GM India has always been known to showcasing its high-performance cars at the Auto Expo and to the best of our knowledge, the auto manufacturer currently has no plans of launching any of its performacnce cars in our country.Many of you car aficionados would remember that at Auto Expo 2012 too, the car maker displayed the older Camaro SS and while there were plenty of rumors suggesting that the tasty looking car is on its way to our country, the carmaker never actually launched the famous muscle car in India. Instead, what we got were family oriented vehicles such as the Sail and the Enjoy.
Powering the new 2014 Camaro ZL1 is a 6.2-liter supercharged V8 engine that has a max power of 580 hp at 6,000 rpm and peak torque of 753 Nm at 4,200 rpm. All this power is sent to rear wheels via a 6-speed manual transmission. The ZL1 can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 3.9 seconds and has a top whack of 296 km/h.For the US market, the 2014 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 prices start from USD 55,055.

 AUTO EXPO-2014

The 2014 auto expo promises to be more than just a big show. It has moved to a new venue that is further away which was expected to bring a smaller but more focused crowd to the stand. On the other hand, it was looking like it will be one of the best attended editions of the Delhi- based show with only a handful of manufacturers staying away. Then came the long list of launches, debuts, reveals and more that are ensuring that the buzz around the biennial show has never been greater. There were some new launches in the auto expo-2014 as given below:

BMW-i8 -The radical hybrid sports car on display and the BMW will put it on sale in India soon.  The car is BMW’s take on what a true hybrid sport car should be. The mid engine, 4.7 m long i8 uses a carbon fiber-reinforced plastic (CFRP) shell on a welded all-aluminum chassis. The car uses a new 3 cylinder 1.5 litre turbocharged petrol engine that sends 232PS of powers to the rear wheels, with an added 133PS power from lition-ion electric motor going to the front. The top speed is restricted to 249kmph while BMW claims a 0-100kmph in 4.4 seconds and an efficiency of 50kmpl.

Mercedes S-class –Mercedes has revealed the top of the line S-class, the S600 at the auto expo. The S600 has a 537 PS bi-turbo V12 engine which also makes a huge 830 Nm of torque. This high- pressure fuel injected engine comes with two turbochargers and Mercedes claims a 0-100kmph run in 4.6 seconds with an electronically limited speed of 250kmph. The S600 also has an outlook towards the fuel efficiency. Mercedes claims that big S class will do nearly 11kmpl, a 21 % improvement over its predecessor. Helping it achieve this fuel efficiency is the standard ECO start/stop and the lower kerbweight.

ABS - Anti-lock Braking System

It is an automobile safety system that allows the wheels on a motor vehicle to maintain tractive contact with the road surface according to driver inputs while braking preventing the wheels from locking up (ceasing rotation) and avoiding uncontrolled skidding. It is an automated system that uses the principles of threshold braking and cadence braking which were practiced by skilful drivers with previous generation braking systems. It does this at a much faster rate and with better control than a driver could manage.

ABS generally offers improved vehicle control and decreases stopping distances on dry and slippery surfaces for many drivers; however, on loose surfaces like gravel or snow-covered pavement, ABS can significantly increase braking distance, although still improving vehicle control.

What is Triple Spark Technology?

Along with the announcement of the new Pulsar 200NS,came a new technology named Triple Spark technology. Which is being used in the new bike. In simple words, the triple spark technology is nothing but a engine with 3 spark plugs housed in it.

To make use of 3 spark plugs, the pulsar engine houses a pent roof combustion chamber which in turn allows to house 3 spark plugs in the engine chamber. Out of the three plugs, the primary plug is the center one and is mounted in an angle and enters the chamber at the top-center. The other two secondary plugs are mounted below, each opposite each other and one of them being vertically underneath the primary plug.

The secondary plugs fires a bit after the primary one has fired and the timings are controlled by the ECU depending on various parameters like throttle position, engine revs,load on engine and many other stuffs. According to Bajaj, these plugs gain a advantage in low-rev riding condition where it extracts the best economy.Compared to KTM Duke 200 in similar conditions it gives as much as 10-13kmpl more,however the difference vanishes at higher revs and high speed.
